Newry Aquathon Series

📁 Club News, Results

Wednesday 20th May was the date for the 1st race of Newry Triathlon Club’s Aquathon series.

For many competing this would be their first venture in to the open water in 2015. Although temperatures on land were modest, the water was freezing.

There were solid swims by all Olypians given the conditions in the water. Pete Williamson was one of the first competitors out of the water and followed this up with a blistering run to come in third overall. Chris Fleming was next and after a decent swim had another mare in transition but did follow this up with a solid run to come in 7th overall. The waterpolo sisters were next out of the water with Ruth having the more comfortable of runs over her sister Nuala. Sheena and Maeve had their own battle with Maeve a minute up after the swim, but a strong run from Sheena meant she was able to catch her on the line.

This is a great race and well worth doing to get a bit of open water practice in midweek. Roll on the next one.
