Mourne Triathlon 2015

The sun shone down on Castlewellan on Saturday August 29th for the Mourne Triathlon.
Each year this event gets better and better with over 250 starters going off in a single wave 750m straight line swim for the end of the lake. Commonwealth Games athlete and 2014 Mourne winner Harry Speers led the athletes out of the water with a strong swim. A blistering bike split by Newry TC’s Barry Convery narrowed the advantage going onto the run.Speers held on to win by 18 seconds from Convery with Invictus teammate Kevin Egan taking the third spot on the podium posting the fastest run split of the day. Strong bike and run splits saw Claire Mcavoy first lady home from Katherine Kelly and Emma Kerr claimed third place capping a great day out for the Invictus squad.

Olympian Triathlon club would like to thank our principle sponsor Chain Reaction Cycles Flagship store, Boucher Road and all our other sponsers. Also Castlewellan Forest Park and the local residents of Castlewellan and the surrounding areas. And thanks to everyone who came down to support and compete that really added a magical atmosphere to the day. And lastly to all members of Olympian TC who gave up their time not only on the day but in the weeks and months leading up to the event to ensure it continues to be a success. See you all again in 2016!
